After reading about Ron's passing, I started to think about how grateful I am to him.
December 5th '65 Ron, I and several other MV grads were drafted by the US Army. We were all sent to the 4th Infantry Division where we trained for several months with the 1/10 Cavalry. It was clear our destination was Viet Nam. Shortly before we deployed I was transferred to a Engineer Battalion. I did not see much of the guys for the next 13 months, until we returned home. Then the celebrations of our safe return began and continued for several weeks. During one of those celbrations at Flarety's, Ron spilled a beer. The spilled beer was headed for a lovely young lady sitting at our table. To avoid the spill she moved around the table and sat next to me. We began to talk and have not stopped talking since. In August we will celebrate our 46th anniversary.
Thanks Ron, I will be forever grateful for the spilled beer!

Hi, Jimmy...How are you?? Hope to see you at the reunion, my old friend.
Yes, that's right, Robert did have this incredible voice, which seemed to be custom made for radio or tv.
He probably could have made a living doing Hollywood voice-overs had he wanted to...
And another Vietnam Vet, too. Semper Fi Robert.
