Destiny “Dusty” Diane (Stafford) Pitts passed away August 5th, 1984 in Houston, TX. She was born December 17th, 1946; she married Sam Pitts and they had 2 sons, Rome born in 1969 and Travis born in 1984. She was Secretary of the Rotary Club of Houston.
Thank you for giving me more information about Destiny. She was a classmate friend of mine--Stavnes and Stafford were next to each other in alphabetical order--and we would talk daily. I was saddened to learn of her passing in 1984, at a very young age (my daughters were born in 1980 and 1983). I noticed that her second son was born in 1984; did that have anything to do with her passing? We will miss her; a truly nice person.
Dusty, besides being friends since Red Oak, worked on the yearbook with me. She was the business manager, and always did a great job. Dusty was kind of a quiet soul who required some effort to bring her out.
Thank you for this information, Pat. What a sobering experience. I keep reminding myself that each day is a gift, and we should live it with enthusiasm. Hope to see you at the Reunion.

Dusty and I were Brownies (Girl Scouts) together. Camping trips, pajama parties, lots of fun times.
She was a talented artist. I remember one Christmas she gave me a gift and she had made the wrapping
paper. It was so clever and beautiful I hated to ruin it by seeing what was inside. We stayed in touch,
actually wrote letters (remember those days). We had a few vacations where I went to Houston or she
came to New Orleans when I lived there. She loved Texas, had actually developed an accent.
She was a fun, caring and loving person who I will always miss.

Dusty and I were often put out in the hall for disciplinary reason when at Red Oak in first grade. Don't know why I remember.

Kris, Tom, and Jim, Enjoyed reading you memories about Dusty.
She died a few months after Travis was born. She was talking to her
mother on the phone and died suddenly of a brain aneurysm. Jan
Harvey and Nancy Wall (another tragic loss) flew to Texas for her funeral.
