Suzanne graduated from Michigan State University and then settled in Florida to be near her parents.  She spent 30 years teaching at Dunedin High School.  She retired in 1998 planning to travel with her husband Charles H. Lavery.  She died March 13, 2001 of breast cancer that had spread into her blood and then into her brain.  Suzanne's first husband James Miller died in 1994.  She was survived by her second husband Charles, 3 stepsons, a stepdaughter, 6 grandchildren and her brother Richard A. Emerick.
