James R. Flink, Age 76 of Elk River, passed away on Sunday, April 4, 2021. A Gathering of Family & Friends took place from 4PM - 7PM on Monday, April 12, 2021 at the Dare's Funeral Home, 805 Main Street, NW, Elk River. Interment with military honors took place on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at 1PM at the Wyanett Free Church Bethany Cemetery in Wyanett Township near Princeton.

Jimmy and I were both in the Civil Air Patrol (CAP) during the same period. I lied my age and started at 12. I went until 15. Jim was older, along with his brother Bill, who used to pick me up for our 2-week or monthly meetings to travel to the U of M. The Flinks' were totally devoted to the Patrol and it influenced my own loyalty to same. I always liked Jim and usually enjoyed a lot of laughs together. He could be quiet and reflective at times, but very easy-going and likeable. His smile, along with a coy twinkle in his eye, was his strong suit. Jimmy, as I always called him, will remain in my memories till the day I die. I've prayed for his spirit and soul. I'll miss you James, I really will.
I should add that I knew Jimmy since Kindergarten. Our entire 12 years of education was shared. So, effectively I've known Jimmy my entire life. Salute, Jim!
