.              With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of David “Dave” C. Truehart, age 79, of Grand Marais, MN, on February 23, 2026, at Mayo Hospital in Jacksonville, FL. He was born on July 28, 1946, in Minneapolis, MN, the son of the late Arthur and Grace Truehart.

David proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He served aboard the USS Guadalupe and was awarded two Bronze Stars.

After his military service, he returned to Minnesota, where he became professionally involved in engineering, construction, and metal fabrication, owning and operating two businesses. An engineer at heart, David was awarded three patents for his designs. For the past twenty- two years, he co-owned an outfitting business on the Gunflint Trail.

David is survived by his partner, Debra; four children, Christina (Jason), Cathlene (Ryan), Duane (Cathy Jo), and Benjamin (Anna); twelve grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Raymond; his sister, Patty; and his grandson, Jonathan.

David was an incredibly intelligent man and an extraordinary father. He was happiest when fishing with family and friends. He will be greatly missed.
